Psychotherapy

Life presents challenges, occasionally leading to one experiencing difficult and unwanted emotions. Such occurrences left unattended may impact on our sense of wellbeing and relationships with those around us.

Psychotherapy offers an avenue of emotional exploration that better allows us to understand ourselves, our context and how we connect with others. The therapeutic process aims to alleviate symptoms of emotional distress and increase hope. Life experiences and relationships, both past and present, will be invited into discussions with the aim of improving emotional health. Patterns between thoughts, feelings and emotions will be examined, hoping to find improved ways of managing difficulties.

I see individuals, couples and families having difficulties with or experiencing some of the following:

  • Anxiety
  • Low mood
  • Relationship difficulties
  • Life changes such as, pregnancy, birth and parenthood
  • Behavioural concerns in children and young people
  • Traumatic experiences
  • Foster care and or adoption
  • Major decisions
  • Issues related to identity such as race, sexual orientation, gender identity.

My mode of Psychotherapy practice favours a non-blaming approach, remaining curious about all perspectives. I have worked with both adults and children for fourteen years, the last nine of which were spend in NHS Child and Adolescent Mental Heath clinics. I completed my training at the Tavistock and Portman (NHS). I am a registered Psychotherapist with the UCKP (UK Council for Psychotherapy) and AFT (Association for Family Therapy). Alongside my current work in the NHS, I supervise and teach mental health practitioners evidence-based interventions at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience, Kings College London.

First appointments will be 90 minutes. Follow up sessions are 50 minutes.

Yes, confidentiality is respected at all times, in line with the ethical principles and code of professional conduct outlined by the UKCP.
