In functional medicine, we focus on the 5 pillars of health to get the whole picture; Food. Exercise. Stress. Relationships. Sleep. Why are these important? They hold the key that can unlock your ability to feel great. There is no ‘one size fits all’ health plan.

Want to lose weight?

What is a health coach?

As a Functional Medicine Health Coach, I help to bridge the gap between diagnosis and transformation. I am here to help you find your resilience and find your strength to be committed to finding that balance in your life.

No matter how big or small your health goals are or obstacles in your way, my process can empower you along your path to better self-care and personal discovery. We can introduce new habits and new routines, little by little and one day at a time.

Been prescribed a food plan by your Doctor or Practitioner? I can help coach you through all aspects of diet including Paleo, Ketogenic, Intermittent Fasting, Elimination Diets, Detoxing, Gluten Free, Dairy Free, Diabetic, Cardiovascular, and Mitochondrial Health (Parkinson’s, Alzheimers, Chronic Fatigue, Epilepsy, Migraines, and Multiple Sclerosis).

“Food provides a complex message to the body, and the goal is to ensure that message is one encouraging health and wellness.” - Institute For Functional Medicine

Did you know that so many diseases ARE preventable & reversible?

Your daily lifestyle directly influences and speaks to your genes in your body, so that means just because it runs in your family does not necessarily mean you will get it. It is all up to you!

We may discuss the following topics: foods/nutrition, self-care, sleep, stress management, exercise, values, spiritual needs, relationships, time management, character strengths, and the specific health challenges and other lifestyle issues that impact your wellbeing.

Health Coaching through Positive Psychology

Together we will co-create and empower you to improve all aspects of your lifestyle including work-life balance, sleep hygiene, exercise and movement, relationships and social connections, stress management and nutrition.

I am here to help educate you and help you understand your practitioner’s plan of care if you have already been diagnosed, or if you just want to move towards your vision of health. I can offer you tools and accountability to help you implement these new lifestyle changes and also guide you through any dietary changes, foods plans and exercise protocols. We work together on a longer term basis; we set goals, take baby steps towards them and celebrate successes.

What is Functional Medicine?

Functional Medicine is a systems biology–based approach that focuses on identifying and addressing the root cause of disease. Each symptom or differential diagnosis may be one of many contributing to an individual’s illness. (1)

“Functional Medicine is a model of care that addresses the underlying causes of disease and engages both patient and practitioner in a therapeutic partnership. It represents an evolution in the practice of medicine and effectively addresses the healthcare needs of the 21st century. By shifting the traditional disease-centred focus of medical practice to a more patient-centred approach, Functional Medicine considers the whole person, not just an isolated set of symptoms. With the explosion of chronic disease across the world, more and more healthcare professionals are learning how to address the underlying causes of disease, rather than focusing on simply relieving symptoms. FM Health Coaches help individuals meet their health goals and play a key role in guiding them towards preventing or reversing the chronic conditions that are so pervasive in our modern environment.” —Functional Medicine Coach Academy (2)

How long is the journey?

This is a bespoke & personalised journey we will take TOGETHER so there is no defined time frame. We will start out with a discovery meeting of 60 minutes where we will focus on your needs and goals first.

The process works best either meeting weekly or bi-weekly initially for the first three months and then monthly thereafter. It is important to know that this isn’t an overnight process, however, small attainable changes we make together will be the foundation to your transformation.

Why Am I Different From Other Health Coaches?

Functional Medicine Coaching Academy (FMCA) is the only coaching certification designed in collaboration with the Institute of Functional Medicine (IFM), the global leader in Functional Medicine.

“This is the gold standard in health coaching. It is a comprehensive curriculum integrating the principles of Functional Medicine and nutrition with positive psychology coaching techniques, mind-body medicine, and the psychology of eating.”

Mark Hyman, MD Chairman of the Board of the Institute of Functional Medicine, Medical Director of the Cleveland Clinic for Functional Medicine & #1 New York Times bestselling author

Staying within the Scope of Practice

As a Health Coach and Natural Chef, I am trained in behaviour change, motivational techniques, applying food plans to every day life including recipe development. I am not the expert and cannot give medical advice, rather I can help create an environment that gives, you, the client, permission to take the lead.

I cannot provide a diagnosis or recommend treatments but I can help you understand your diagnosis and plan of care. However, I work alongside of Functional Medicine Practitioners and am able to refer you if you need expanded treatment. I cannot interpret labs, recommend or sell supplements, provide psychotherapy or design exercise plans. Instead, I help you take charge of your health and implement change with habits that stick.
