Nicola is a qualified Midwife and underwent additional training in 2012 to become a Health Visitor. She has been working and training within the NHS for over 12 years and is currently practising as a Health Visitor in Surrey. Nicola’s area of special interest has always been in providing support and advice to women and their families as they adjust to caring for their new baby or expanding family. Support for families often covers topics such as breastfeeding, sleep, safety, introducing solid foods, behavioural development and maternal mental health.
Birth Trauma Resolution Therapy
Nicola is qualified in Birth Trauma Resolution (BTR) therapy. This therapy provides support to women and their birth partners who have experienced either a traumatic birth or birth related trauma such as miscarriage. Some women feel anxious following their birth experience, which can be incredibly debilitating. Treatment can result in positive changes within 2-4 sessions, using therapeutic treatments such as ‘rewind’, as well as positive birth rehearsal to build confidence for a future pregnancy or birth. BTR therapy can support those with tokophobia (an extreme fear of pregnancy and/or childbirth). It is also available to doctors and midwives who have observed a traumatic event at work.

Nicola is also a qualified Fertility Coach with the Freedom Fertility Formula. In the UK it is estimated that 1 in 7 couples experience fertility issues and there is a huge gap in support for emotional wellbeing during this time. Having fertility issues can impact on many different aspects of life; it can be all-consuming, isolating and emotionally overwhelming. Nicola provides support to women and couples experiencing fertility issues to regain emotional control and live life to the full once more. The programme consists of 6-7 sessions to ensure the mind and body are working together. The sessions will explore what obstacles or challenges there might be in life as a result of having fertility issues and we work on strategies, tools and techniques to overcome these.
